Preliminary Task

Our preliminary task was to film a short piece of work, in which we would act out a script where we would show our knowledge of camera work.

I was put in a group with Alex and Tom and we set about getting to work on what exactly we wanted to do within our short piece.

We decided that our script would be based on something where we happen to be running away from something.

So we picked some locations we thought we'd get some good lighting from such as the back of the field and down by the staff room, while the lighting around the back of the field was great and was brilliant, the lighting around the staff room was horrible due to the fact the sun covered tom so he looked like a shadow, so a slight oversight on mine and Alex's part and this will be something i will look to improve in my next task by checking my shots on the camera and moving it into a better position.

While the piece overall was a good first attempt we did suffer slightly with a big problem we didn't pick up until our presentation to the class, our problem was sound(well the lack of a consistent volume level) so a good way to improve this would to be either making the volume consistent via editing or re-shooting scenes multiple times to get a better range of volume.

So to quickly sum up my overall work

Positives
We came up with some great places to film
Adapted the script and put in some changes
Some great uses for camera shots

Negatives
Non-consistent sound
Lighting issues that affected the work

Well that concludes my first report on the work done during my media lessons
